Joshua Alexander Kuhlman
Jul 15, 1987 - Jan 03, 2010
Washington, D. C.
Winston-Salem – Joshua Alexander Kuhlman, 22, of Winston-Salem, N.C., died tragically in a car accident on Sunday, January 3, 2010 in Washington, D.C., where he worked and lived since graduating college. Josh’s untimely death took a multi-talented young man from our presence. His impact on his family, his friends, and all those with whom he came in contact is everlasting and of a magnitude way beyond his twenty-two years. Josh was born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 15, 1987, to Amy Filippone Kuhlman and Jeffrey Reme Kuhlman. Josh attended Forsyth Country Day School in Winston-Salem for eight years and graduated with honors in 2005. He was known for his intelligence, academic achievements, and community service, and was highly recognized as a thespian and singer. Josh was also an outstanding athlete. He played varsity soccer for four years at Forsyth Country Day School, and served as captain of the team his senior year. Josh was also awarded MVP and earned “all-state” status in both soccer and track. He attended Johns Hopkins University where he played varsity soccer and served as the Fiji fraternity president. Josh graduated from Johns Hopkins with a BA in Economics in 2009. After graduation, Josh began working in Acquisitions for the Department of Defense in Washington D.C. All those who knew Josh feel blessed that he touched their lives. Josh was clever and spirited and he made life entertaining and fun for his family and friends. His family Christmas gift riddles brought laughs and joy to his parents and brothers. He was extremely close to his brothers Brad and Greg and set an outstanding example for them. Josh was a loving and caring son of whom his parents could not possibly be more proud. Josh is survived by his brother Brad Kuhlman, a student at Duke University, his brother Greg Kuhlman, a student at High Point University, and by his parents Dr. and Mrs. Jeffrey R. Kuhlman of Advance, N.C. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday January 7 at Salem Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Street in Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held Friday January 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Street in Winston-Salem. Family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service at Forsyth Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joshua Alexander Kuhlman Scholarship Fund at Forsyth Country Day School.
