Patricia Ann Lewis Stephens died Sunday November 1,2009. Born in Robbins, North Carolina on March 28,1937, she was the daughter of the late Coy S. Lewis and Elma Morrison Lewis of Robbins, NC. She moved to Rocky Mount as a young lady to help her sister Margaret care for her young children during a family crisis. While there, she graduated from Rocky Mount High School and later from Queens College in Charlotte in 1959. Patricia met and fell in love with Paul Stephens while in Rocky Mount. He had never seen a more beautiful girl and was captivated by her spirit and personality. She had the innate ability to turn heads and light up any room she entered. They were married on February 1st, 1959. They enjoyed a busy, fun-filled life raising their four children, visiting family in Robbins and making precious memories that included trips to Myrtle Beach and Morehead City. She and Paul loved the beach and instilled that love of the ocean in their children. Family was important to Patricia and she was a devoted sister and daughter. She made so many trips to Robbins that she always had a bag packed and was ready to go. It gave her great joy to drive to her family home where she loved to keep current with all the happenings in the community. She was vivacious and outgoing with a fun sense of humor that left an indelible impression on all she met. In addition to raising her family she gained a lot of satisfaction from working with the public, including educating unwed mothers and working in the banking industry. She was also very active with the PT A and her children's sporting activities while they were in grade school. As her children grew into adulthood she created Triad Wedding Planners. Not only did Patricia and Paul raise a family, during their life together Patricia was instrumental in the establishment of Landmark Builders. Patricia's support and constant faith in Paul's abilities enabled his business success. Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Paul Madison Stephens of Winston-Salem; children, Paul Madison Stephens III , wife Elizabeth of Greensboro and their children Paul, John and Claire; Kathryn Stephens Dillon, husband Greg of Marietta, Georgia and their children Jessica, Danielle and Brittany; Samuel Garland Stephens, wife Carol of Greensboro and their children Nate and Susan; and Patricia Stephens Short and Rick Wolworth of Boone; sisters Margaret Lewis Cleetwood of Carthage and Betty Lewis Garner of Robbins.
