Wilma Archer Shouse passed away on Monday, April 27, 2009 at a Hospice Care Center near Ontario, California. Wilma was born October 24, 1920 in Winston-Salem. She was married to Edward Shouse of Winston-Salem who preceded her in death in 1967. The later part of their life together was in Kernersville where they ran Shouse Antiques; for a few years in Korner’s Folly and then at 419 South Main Street, next door to the Folly. Mrs. Shouse was a graduate of John W. Hanes High School in Winston-Salem and had a Bachelors of Arts Degree from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro. She had a Masters Degree from the University of Oregon. Her many adventures took her throughout the U.S., but her final occupation was working for the Secretary of State of Florida where she retired in 2004. Surviving family members are a brother, Benjamin Douglas Archer, Jr. and wife, Margaret, of Ontario, CA; three nephews: Mark Archer and wife, Judy, of Cheyenne, WY, Rodney Archer of Beijing, China and Dr. Neal Archer and wife, Dr. Pamela Archer Lux and their children, Devon & Sophia, of Corona, CA. Mrs. Shouse was a member of Kernersville Moravian Church and will have a graveside service there on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Kernersville Moravian Church, 503 S. Main Street, Kernersville, NC 27284 in memory of Mrs. Shouse.
