Rebecca Anastasia Pappas
Oct 26, 1984 - Oct 31, 2018
Salt Lake City, UT
Rebecca Anastasia Pappas, 34, passed unexpectedly at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 31st, 2018. She is survived by her loving parents, Victor and Susan Pappas, grandfather Charles Pappas, sister Alexandra Pappas, brother Charlie Pappas, life partner Christopher Mellott, and beloved Labrador retriever, Cash.

Becca was born October 26th, 1984 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. At age 11, Becca and her family moved to Steamboat Springs, CO where she developed a deep passion for snowboarding, skateboarding, hiking, and all things outdoors.

Becca loved to learn. With her insatiable thirst for knowledge, coupled with her deep passion for the outdoors, at age 30 Becca moved to Bozeman, Montana to pursue a degree from Montana State University. Becca was an outstanding student, and won a scholarship which took her to Bristol, England where she worked closely with environmental scientists studying the Greenland Ice Sheet. She proudly graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Earth Science from MSU this past May. After graduating, Becca continued to take classes in Environmental Biophysics, with hopes to gain her doctorate in the years to come.

Becca’s course of life was never altered by others’ thoughts or opinions. She had a deep love for life and always stayed true to who she was. She will be deeply missed.

Rebecca’s funeral arrangements will be a Trisagion and visitation at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church located at 435 Keating Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27104 at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 8th. Funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m.

Becca’s kindness impacted people across the country and it is understood that not all who wish to attend the funeral will be able to due to the location. Family and friends plan to host a Celebration of Life in Steamboat Springs, CO in the coming months.
