Betty Mae Lancaster Williard

Betty Mae Lancaster Williard, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Autumn Care in Fayetteville, NC. Her husband of 63 years, David Edward Williard, Sr. predeceased her in February 2010. Betty was the youngest of four children, born in Winston-Salem on May 3, 1930 to the late N. Moir Lancaster and Pallie Davis Lancaster. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her three siblings, Moir C. Lancaster, Lucile (Tag) Brady, and Frank N. Lancaster.
Betty is lovingly remembered by her three children; David E. Williard and wife, Martha, of Gastonia, NC, Melinda “Mindy” W. Creech and husband, Carl, of Fayetteville, NC, and George N. Williard of Winston-Salem, NC. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Traci Williard Harbin and husband, Scott, of Gastonia, NC, Lindsay C. May and husband, AJ, of Hillsborough, NC, and Carlin C. Smith and husband, Brad, of Raleigh, NC; and great grandchildren, Anna-Taylor Harbin and Jackson Harbin of Gastonia, NC. In addition, Betty is survived by a sister-in-law, Alece Parker Lancaster and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was a charter member of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church for more than sixty-seven years, having been active in all phases of her church life. Betty was a long-time member of the Wake Forest Baptist Cardiac Rehabilitation program. She was a talented seamstress for most of her life.
The family wishes to thank members of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church, the staff at Heritage Woods in Winston-Salem, NC, Heritage Place and Autumn Care in Fayetteville, NC and Amedisys Hospice Care of Pembroke, NC for their love and care in the last years of Betty’s life.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church with Reverend John Rights officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. Burial will follow the service in God’s Acre.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Konnoak Hills Moravian Church, 3401 Konnoak Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or to Amedisys Hospice Care of Pembroke, 56 Three Hunts Drive, #3, Pembroke, NC 28372. Arrangements are in the care of Salem Funeral Home.
