David Lee Evans,71, died on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at his home. David was born on January 21, 1947 to Hazel Collins and Joe Evans Jr. in Nash County, NC. From a young age he lived as a resident of Winston-Salem. David graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in 1965. After high school he served our country in the U.S. Navy. Following his military time, David graduated from WSSU with his degree in early childhood development. David will be remembered as a compassionate selfless man and will leave passionate memories of his life to his family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Hazel Spofford of Winston-Salem; his brother Bob Evans of Asheville. Other extended family members include nephew, Todd Gentry and his wife, Lori and their children, Lindsey, Josh and Bryce of Winston-Salem; niece and her husband, Kristen and Drew Sweeney and their children, Meghan and Ally of Hickory, NC, niece, Jessica Evans and her daughter, Willow Ames and son, Rhyse Clayton-Evans of Roanoke, VA and niece, Heidi Schwartz, as well as other relatives and many long time friends. Family and friends will grieve, remember and celebrate David's life from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the home of Hazel Spofford, 2500 Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem.
