John Ralph Abee
- Apr 22, 2018
John Ralph Abee, 88, passed away quietly and peacefully on Sunday morning, April 22, 2018 after a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his parents John Tipton and Queen Victoria Small Abee; five siblings; and his beloved wife of 46 years, Violet. A man of great faith, he worshiped at Christ Moravian Church, where he was Sacristan and taught Sunday School for many years. He served in the United States Navy and operated a successful painting company, retiring in 1992. Ralph was an avid golfer, loved to read and study the Bible, and was known for his love of life and people.

He is survived by his daughter Donna Abee Kowalski; niece Julie Wright; granddaughter Andrea Bramer (Brian); grandson Matthew Pace (Jennifer); five great-grandchildren (Ashlee, Sarah, Zackery, Gavin and Haelee); and three great-great grandsons (Brentley, Liam and Maverick). Family and friends may gather for visitation at Salem Funeral and Cremations Main Street Chapel on Friday, April 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park on Saturday morning, April 28, at 10:00 a.m. led by the Reverend Dr. David A. Marcus, Jr. A reception and time to visit with the family will follow in the fellowship hall of Christ Moravian Church on Academy Street in Winston-Salem.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation honoring Ralph be made to a Christian charity of your choice. Online condolences may be sent to www.salemfh.com.

So very sorry to hear of your grandfather. I know you will miss him but do remember all wonderful times. It always hurts. My sympathies to you Andrea and your family.

God strengthens us by giving us "the power beyond what is normal" to make it through each passing day. Psalm 46:1 says: "God is our refuge and strength, a help that is readily found in times of distress". Nahum 1:7; God "is a stronghold in the day of distress, and is mindful of those seeking refuge in him". Please accept my sincere condolences. Always remember God loves you and he cares for you! (Psalm 36:7; 2 Corinthians 1:3,4)

I am so sorry to hear the loss of this wonderful man. I had the pleasure of serving him at Southern Family for the past couple years, until he was reserved to his home. He was one of the sweetest people I’ve met and had the best sense of humor. He will be greatly missed, but i know he’s home with his Father looking down on all his beloved friends and family.

You were always nice and welcoming to the little ragamuffin your big brother, Elmer, took into his family when he married my Mom, Jackie. For that, I am profoundly grateful. Although we didn't have a lot of contact over the years, I knew you would have my back if called upon. Thank you for being you, Uncle Ralph. I'll miss you being there. I'm sorry we didn't get to have that last dinner together. Would you please say "Hi" to Mom, Dad, and Nannie for me. Enjoy your rest and reward, kind sir.

I just learned today about the death of your Dad and Grandad--one of my favorite people on my Meals on Wheels route. Ralph was so quick witted and so smart and just wonderful to be around. He loved to tell me about the beach house, his roses and his wife he adored. I was so sorry to learn of the suddenness of his death, but gratified that he died peacefully. I so will miss him.
