Florence Stacy Weaver

Florence Weaver was the daughter of Kate Dunn and Jim Weaver. She received a BA from Wake Forest University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. She received a MA at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a Ph.D from Florida State University, where she held a Ford Foundation scholarship as well as a National Defense Education Act fellowship. She taught in Reidsville and High Point, North Carolina before going to East Carolina University where she served as Department Chair and taught for 40 years. 

She is survived by her beloved Boston terrier, Abbe, and a host of friends. 

A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on February 24, 2018 at Parkway Presbyterian Fellowship Hall, 1000 Yorkshire Road, Winston-Salem, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kate Dunn/Florence Weaver Scholarship Fund  c/o Wake Forest University, 1834 Wake Forest Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27109.
