Janelle Shuford King

Mrs. Janelle Shuford King, 71, widow of Mr. Charles Jackson King, passed away at home after a courageous but short battle with cancer. Janelle (Jan) was born in Winston-Salem, NC April 4th, 1937 to the late Charlie and Lillie Shuford. She grew up in the south side area and was raised on the Mill Hill. She graduated from Gray High School and moved to Jacksonville, Fl. While living there she met a truck driver during race week at Daytona. She was married to Charles for 31 years before his passing. She loved the beach, her many trips to Vegas, was an avid reader and loved music. She was a member of Immanuel-New Eden Moravian Church, Sprague Street Senior Citizens, and loved her activities with the Salvation Army. She was a devoted wife, mother, and MawMaw. Surviving are her two daughters, Lynn Boggs and husband Randy of Winston-Salem, and Carlotta Daniels and husband Tim of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Amanda, T.J., and Brittany Daniels of Thomasville; a brother, Donald Shuford and wife Dot of Rural Hall; two sisters, France Palmer of Winston-Salem, and Becky Tincher and husband Tommy of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. King will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Salem Funeral Home with Rev. Norwood Green and Rev. Walter C. Bishop officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Special thanks to her grandchildren. They were her best medicine.
