Charles Edward Talton, Sr.

Charles Edward Talton Sr., 104, of Winston-Salem died Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Salemtowne. He was born March 9, 1913 in Johnston Co., NC to Rufus and Carrie Talton. Mr. Talton was a member of Ausburg Lutheran Church. Charles was a gifted photographer who won numerous awards from the Professional Photographers Association of America, including Masters of Photography. He owned and operated Talton Studios, Talton Color Lab and Colortronics. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army Air Corps. After retirement, he made his home in Florida and the North Carolina Mountains. He was a world traveler and enjoyed playing cards and golf. Cooking was his passion and favorite past time. He was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Beverly, and great-grandson (Gage). Surviving are his son, Charles E. Talton Jr. (Doralyn) of Charlotte; daughter Terry Talton Barber (Bert) of Advance; four grandchildren, Chad Talton (Renae), Laura Corn (Ricky), Drew Barber (Sarah), Stacey Hollings (Robbie); and six great-grandchildren. A special appreciation to Nancy Crawford, his longtime friend and companion in his final years.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7 at Salem Funeral Home at 120 South Main Street. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6 at Salem Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina, 3655 Reed Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
