Sarah (Sally) Brooks Pullen Kelly of Winston-Salem died peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2014. Sally was born on October 10, 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Edwin Tilmon Pullen and Sarah Brooks Pullen. She graduated from Reynolds High School and the Women's College at UNC-Greensboro with an AB degree in Elementary Education. She taught grammar school in Chapel Hill and later at Moore School in Winston-Salem.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. David L. Kelly, Jr. of Winston-Salem and by three daughters and one son. Sarah Katherine Kelly (Kathy) Burnette and Tom of Oxford, North Carolina; David L. Kelly, III and Julie of Atlanta, Georgia; Mary Brooks Kelly Maund and Robert of Charlotte, North Carolina and Julia Ann Kelly Goins and Ted of Winston-Salem. Sally is also survived by seven grandchildren, Sally and Sonny Burnette, Courtney and Scottie Kelly, Brooks, Julia and Charles Maund. Sally was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Edwin Tilmon Pullen, III.

She served her community as a former member of the Winston-Salem Junior League, the medical Alliance of the Piedmont, and the Medical Center Guild. She was also a member of the Ronald McDonald House, Friends of Brenner Children's Hospital, the Windsor Garden Club, the North Carolina Museum of History and the DAR.

A private graveside service will be held and attended by the family members on January 3, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 3rd at Centenary United Methodist Church. Visitation will follow in the church Fellowship Hall.

The family wishes to thank all the many friends who contributed to Sally's healthcare needs with prayers, thoughts, flowers and food. We are especially appreciative of the wonderful care rendered by the many nurses at the Cancer Center of Wake Forest University. We are particularly indebted and appreciative of the extraordinary care rendered by Dr. Jeff Petty and Dr. Steve Tatter, two caring and accomplished physicians. We also would like to thank the nurses at the Piedmont Home Health Agency and the attention rendered by Hospice under the guidance of Maggie Meginnis.
