Grace Sidden Allred

Mrs. Grace Sidden Allred, 95, of Winston-Salem, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 15, 2013. She was born on September 16, 1918 in Wilkes County to the late Henry Talton Sidden and Lizzie McCann Sidden. Mrs. Allred was married to the late William Russell Allred, Sr. Mrs. Allred has lived in VA and Sparta, NC and retired from Glade Valley School. She has made her home in Winston-Salem since 1985 and became a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters, Edna Martin, Florence West and Martha Ennis Sidden and a brother, Walter Sidden.

Mrs. Allred is survived by her daughters, Judy A. Petty of Winston-Salem, Elizabeth (Betty) Carroll of Winston-Salem; son, William (Bill) Russell Allred, Jr. and wife, Marilyn of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Robert Clay Petty, Jr. (Jerry Coffey) of Winston-Salem, David Carroll (Melissa) of Winston-Salem, Kim Griffin (Jim) of Richmond, VA, Stacy Lyons (Mike) of Cary, Tim Petty (Katrina) of Independence, VA; ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; sister, Mary Sicloff of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law, Virginia Sidden of Clemmons; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Special thanks to friends, Sylvia Coffey of Boone, all the neighbors on Paula Drive and a special thank you to Hospice.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Salem Funeral Home, Main St. Chapel with Rev. Chuck Halipilias officiating. Burial will be at Charity UMC, 6440 Austin-Traphill Rd., Elkin, NC 28621. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening and other times at the home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Online condolences may be made through www.salemfh.com.
