Gloria Younger King
Sep 29, 1938 - Jul 07, 2011
Gloria Younger King, 72, of Winston-Salem passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011. She was born in Gretna, VA on September 29, 1938 to the late James and Thalia Younger. She was a graduate of Danville, VA School of Nursing as a RN in 1959. After marriage to Robert L. King, Jr. (Bob), she lived in Greensboro, NC and worked at Moses Cone Hospital where her two sons were born. They moved to Winston-Salem in 1968 when she and Bob opened a new car dealership. Gloria was a long time member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. Gloria was a very active person and enjoyed her family and golf, belonging to Forsyth Country Club, Grandfather Golf & Country Club and Wild Dunes Club. She was preceded in death by her parents and son Tim W. King. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Bob King, son Rob King, daughter-in-law Robyn King, two grandchildren Sterling King and Cash King. She is also survived by one sister Janice Kessee and husband Glenn of Chatham, VA; niece Amy Montgomery and husband Ben of Rocky Mount, VA; one nephew Daniel Kessee and wife Hollye of Danville, VA. Special thanks to Susie Glenn for 37 years of friendship and assistance to Gloria. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed greatly.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 9, 2011, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Salem Funeral Home Chapel, 120 S. Main Street. A Memorial Service will be held at Salem Funeral Chapel, S. Main St., Winston-Salem, NC at 2:00PM on Sunday, July 10, 2011.

Memorials may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 658, Winston-Salem, NC 27102, Elizabeth & Tab Williams Adult Day Care Center, Melrose Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
