Winston-Salem - Mr. Charles Augustus Anthony, 80, Clemmons, NC, died Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Arbor Acres.
Mr. Anthony was born July 14, 1930 in Lonoke, AR son of Philip Lee Anthony, II and Hattie McGee Anthony and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He began his career with Western Electric in 1960 in Denver, CO working with the Titan ICBM and Sprint Missile programs and worked as a Senior Engineer with the Navy on the Underwater Sound Defense Systems before retiring from Lucent Technologies after 36 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sarah J. Anthony of the home, one son and his wife: Phil Mays, Jr and Meri Gilman-Mays, one daughter and her husband: Julia and Scott Collins, one sister, Mary Anthony Griffe, two nephews: Wayne Anthony, David Anthony, nieces, Marianne Griffe, Sandy Anthony, grandchildren Chloe and Connor Mays, and step grandchildren, Jacob and Dannelle Spencer.
Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Salem Cemetery Mausoleum by Dr. Robert C. Evans, III with military honors by the Military Burial Honor Guard, Inc. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Salem Funeral Home, 120 South Main Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. On line condolences may be made to www.salemfh.com

I'm so sorry for your loss. My Grandfather and Charle's Mother were brother & sister. Charles was quite a bit older than me but I remember him.
